Renting a sailing boat in Alicante with skipper is the easiest way to enjoy a day at sea without worrying about licences, routes or maintenance. You step on board with your group and the skipper takes care of the rest: the route, the anchoring in the coves, safety and all the technical details no one wants to deal with on holiday. The port of Alicante has yachts, motorboats, catamarans and sailing boats, but the experience changes a lot depending on which one you choose.
This guide explains why a sailing boat — and specifically the Peggy, our Centurion 61 of 19 metres — fits most plans on the Costa Blanca better than a motor yacht or a catamaran. We also cover the booking modalities (half day, full day or multi-day), what's included in the rental, and how to book without surprises.
Whether you come with friends, with your partner, with family or for a specific celebration, the goal is the same: get the most out of the Mediterranean. And for that, the boat you choose matters.
Why a sailing boat (and not a yacht or a catamaran) for your day in Alicante
Each type of vessel has its logic, but renting a sailing boat in Alicante offers a hard-to-beat balance between experience, price and comfort.
Sailing boat vs motor yacht. Yachts are fast and very comfortable, but they have two drawbacks: engine noise stays with you all day, and fuel consumption shows up in the final price (especially on long days). On a sailing boat like the Peggy, as soon as the wind picks up the engine goes off and the day changes: total silence, smooth heeling and the genuine feeling of sailing, not just moving forward.
Sailing boat vs catamaran. A catamaran is stable and has plenty of deck space, but it's slower, sails less in average Mediterranean conditions and is usually more expensive to rent for the same number of people. A modern 19-metre monohull — like the Peggy — combines three bathrooms, a full galley and an ample cockpit with the elegance and responsiveness of a classic sailing boat. And in budget terms, it stays well below an equivalent catamaran.
Sailing boat vs speedboat. A speedboat is perfect for 2-3 hours or a quick swim, but for a full day it falls short: limited space, direct sun all the time, no interior bathrooms or galley. The sailing boat wins as soon as you pass 4 hours on board.
If you want to go deeper into the differences, this guide to types of recreational boats explains them in detail. And if you've never sailed before, this article on why renting a boat with skipper addresses the most common doubts.

The Peggy: our 19-metre sailing boat for rent in Alicante
The Peggy is a Centurion 61 sailing boat of 19 metres — the largest sailing boat for rent in Alicante in its price range. It's berthed at the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante (RCRA), a 5-minute walk from the city centre and the Explanada, so the logistics for your group are very simple.
What makes the Peggy different:
- 19 metres of length — most rental sailing boats in the area are 12-14 metres. The difference shows in stability, deck space and comfort when there are 8-12 of you on board
- 3 bathrooms on board (most rental sailing boats only have one) — key for larger groups
- Maximum capacity of 12 people — fully private, you never share the boat with strangers
- Full galley, two big fridges and a powerful sound system to set the mood
- Professional skipper always included — Carlos or Vicente, both captains with deep experience in the area
Seeing the Santa Bárbara Castle from the water is an extra argument: there are few more iconic views on the Costa Blanca, and a sailing boat lets you take them in with the silence and the time that a ferry or a speedboat just don't give you.

Rental modalities — half day, full day or multi-day
When you decide to rent a sailing boat in Alicante with skipper the key decision isn't only the boat: it's also the modality. These are the real options, with their logic and a guideline price for mid-season (April, May, September and October):
Half day (4 hours) — from €550
The flagship option for groups who want to try the experience without committing the full day. Morning slot (10am-2pm) or afternoon (3pm-7pm). Enough time for a nearby cove, paddle surf, snorkelling and a relaxed return to port. Ideal for families with small children, romantic getaways or a first contact with sailing. More on the half-day sailing escape page.
6 hours — from €650
A middle ground that more and more guests choose. Typical schedule 3pm-9pm: you combine afternoon, sunset and a long swim in a cove. If you're 6-10 people and want some pace without committing the whole day, this modality fits very well.
Full day (8 hours) — from €850
The modality for visiting Tabarca: 1h 30min navigation outbound, anchoring in the marine reserve, snorkelling, lunch (you can bring it on board or book a restaurant on the island), relaxed return along the coast in the afternoon. If you want to make the most of the trip, this is the option. We explain it in depth on full-day sailing rental Alicante and you can also read this piece on the day trip to Tabarca.
11 hours — from €1,020
The most complete single-day experience. 11am-10pm: Tabarca in the morning, lunch on board or on the island, route through hidden coves in the afternoon, sunset under sail and return to port by moonlight. Reserved for groups who want the perfect rounded day.
Multi-day — private charter
For longer trips there are multi-day options with overnight on board. Northern Costa Blanca (Calpe, Moraira, Jávea), Tabarca, and even crossings to Ibiza or Formentera. You'll find the detail on the multi-day sailing rental Alicante page. It's the least requested modality but the one that impresses our guests the most.
If you have doubts about how much each modality costs per person, this complete price guide for sailing boats, yachts, catamarans and speedboats covers the typical market ranges in Alicante.
What the Peggy rental includes (everything in, no surprises)
One of the most common questions is what the price covers. With us the rule is simple: the price you see is the final price. No hidden extras, no fine print. What every modality includes:
- Professional skipper — manages navigation, route, anchoring and safety
- Fuel — included in the price
- Unlimited open bar — water, Coca-Cola, beer, summer wine and ice all day long
- Paddle surf — for the cove stops
- Snorkelling gear — especially useful in Tabarca or at Cabo de las Huertas
- Powerful sound system to set the day's mood as you like
- 3 bathrooms and full galley — feel free to bring extra food and drink, or cook on board
- Private boat — maximum 12 people, full exclusivity
If you bring snacks, decorations or a cake to celebrate something, all welcome. For groups in celebration mode, the private events and stag/hen parties on board page has every detail.

How to book your sailing boat in Alicante
The Peggy booking process is designed so you can decide calmly and have no surprises:
- First contact: write to us by WhatsApp or email with your tentative date, group size and the modality you're considering. Within 24 hours (usually much sooner) we confirm availability and a closed price.
- 50% deposit booking: once the date is decided, a 50% bank transfer locks the day. The remaining 50% is paid in cash on the day of the charter, before boarding.
- Before departure: we send the exact boarding spot at the RCRA, a packing list, and the skipper calls you the day before to confirm time and weather.
- The day itself: you arrive 15 minutes early, easy boarding, safety briefing and off you go.
In high season (June, July and August) weekends fill up several weeks in advance, so if you have a specific date it's worth getting in touch as soon as possible.
Conclusion: your day in the Mediterranean, no fuss
Renting a sailing boat in Alicante with skipper is the option that best combines genuine experience, sensible price and group comfort. The Peggy gives you the 19 metres, the 3 bathrooms and the professional skipper that make a real difference compared with a small sailing boat, a noisy yacht or a more expensive catamaran.
